Among the various northern communes, Savigny-Lès-Beaune produces exclusively red wines from two very different soil types. Clay vineyards north of the Rhône river produce fuller, more structured wines, while gravel vineyards to the south create ones with notable elegance. This Pinot Noir from heavyweight local producer Louis Jadot is made from hand-harvested grapes from three Premier Cru vineyards situated between 220 m and 360m in altitude. Full of finesse, the wine has an elegant cherry, blackcurrant and spice character and a distinct umami note on the finish. Like other red Burgundy wines it’s an excellent match for beef stew, mushroom quiche or aged cheese..
