Porta 6 Vinho Verde 2019/20. When James Martin recommended Porta 6 red on Saturday Kitchen it quickly became one of our most popular wines. So, it’s was a no-brainer to introduce a white version. If Porta 6 red was a blend of native Portuguese grapes, then the white had to be too. There was only one candidate: Vinho Verde. It’s Portugal’s flagship white grape – the ‘green wine’ you’ll be offered in every wine bar, restaurant and street-side café from Lisbon to the Algarve. We turned to the same producer, whose winery on the edge of the Atlantic has the cooling ocean breezes which give fresh, fruity flavour to this wine. It’s got naturally low alcohol and a refreshing spritz – seriously thirst-quenching, and seriously drinkable. Crisp. Zingy. Citrussy. It’s the perfect aperitif – or else try it with fresh seafood..
