Tournon ‘Landsborough’ Grenache 2017, Pyrenees. While he made his name in France’s Rhône Valley, Michel Chapoutier has been producing wine in Australia since 1997. Michel saw potential in the cool-weather patterns and diversity of soils, and had a vision of making biodynamic and organic bottlings using the traditional varieties of his home region. In his small-batch winery in Heathcote, the aim is to provide a snapshot of a single grape variety, from a single site, in a single vintage. Made using organically farmed vines and fermented with wild yeasts at low temperatures, this Aussie Grenache oozes with the elegance of the Rhône Valley. Raspberry, blackberry, strawberry and spice aromas waft from the glass, underlined by a fresh minerality and flecks of spice. The long, savoury finish makes a perfect match for lamb or beef bourguignon..
