Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 2021 Auckland. In the early 20th century, Mick and Kate Brajkovich tended their own vines and made wine in the small Croatian village they called home. So when they later emigrated to New Zealand, it felt natural for them to buy their own vineyard plot outside of Auckland. Fast-forward 80 years later and their Kumeu River winery is famed for Burgundian-style Chardonnays, with a strong international reputation for outstanding and consistent quality. The Estate Chardonnay draws from across the region – six different vineyard sites over 30 hectares – and is hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Ripe, peachy and deliciously concentrated, it’s a great match for chicken or creamy seafood dishes..
