It stretches from the Maipo Valley, just outside the capital, Santiago, to the Maule Valley in the south. Given its vast size, the region includes a variety of climates and soil types, with each sub-region contributing unique characteristics to its wines. The Traitor’s name derives from an intriguing and heartfelt legend of Añañuca and honours the love of a young woman tragically betrayed by a miner’s quest for treasure. The beautiful Añañuca died of a broken heart, her spirit blossoming into the vibrant red flowers of Chile’s Atacama Desert.
